Christmas came early this year! I mean if it doesn’t snow this Christmas I’ll be happy with the ‘White Christmas’ Valentino created last Wednesday night in NYC.
The Valentino creative directors, Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli created a magnificent all white haute couture collection in celebration of the new 3 floor flagship store on the famous 5th Avenue in New York.
The collection portrayed sheer fabrics and structured silhouettes for the young, fearless and sophisticated woman. I watched the show three times, each time as intriguing as the last.
The collection displayed intricate details and boasted textiles skills I wish I had. I love the high necked items. I picked up on the 60’s & 70’s influences throughout the show which was fitting as I later read the show was inspired by the 1962 Sala Bianca collection by Valentino Garavani himself.
The models looked awesome, with sublte, natural make up, centre partings and blunt long low ponytails. Perfect so the main focus were the all white pieces of this dreamy collection.
One of my favourite things about the collection was that there was something there for every occasion. A formal event, lunch with the girls, evening meal with the other half, shopping.
The evening gowns were beautifully cut and one fit for a bride, take a look at a few of my favourite pieces from the Sala Bianca 945 collection.
